PhD Students

Sadie Kee

Sadie is a first-year Ph.D. student at Georgia Tech who joined The Foundation Lab in Fall 2024. She graduated from Virginia Tech in May 2022 with a B.S. in Psychology, Criminology, and Sociology. She is interested in researching various aspects of high-stress occupations, including team dynamics, individual well-being, and resilience. 

Yuhua (Andy) Li

Yuhua is a Ph.D. candidate who joined The Foundation Lab in Fall 2019. She graduated from Illinois College in May 2019 with a B.S. in both Psychology and Economics. Her research interest revolve around enhancing worker well-being through improving recovery experiences, work-life balance, prosocial behaviors in the workplace, and implementing personal- and organizational-level interventions.

Lauren H. Moran

Lauren is a fifth-year Ph.D. student at Georgia Tech who joined The Foundation Lab in Fall 2023. She graduated from Florida State University in May 2020 with a B.S. in both Psychology and International Affairs. Her research interests are broadly centered on fostering worker health and well-being in traditional and nontraditional contexts. She is also interested in factors underlying individual perceptions of corporate social responsibility (and irresponsibility), employee benefits, and emerging technologies in the future of work.

Yichen (Steve) Tang

Yichen is a Ph.D. candidate who joined The Foundation Lab in Fall 2019. He graduated from the College of Wooster with a double major in Psychology and Economics. He is interested in understanding team dynamics and ways to improve worker well-being. His overarching goal is to become a thought leader in the field of I-O psychology and build on the knowledge-base of scholars that came before him.

Gabrielle Weber

Gabrielle is a first year Ph.D. student at Georgia Tech who joined The Foundation Lab in Fall 2024. She graduated from Northern Kentucky University in December 2023 with a B.S in Psychology and a minor in Interdisciplinary Honors. She is interested in worker health and well-being, especially as it relates to work-life balance, recovery experiences, and stress.

Masters Students

Adriana Cañas

Adriana Cañas is a M.S. psychology student with a concentration in I-O psychology. Her interests include organizational development and using data to drive workplace changes. After graduation she hopes to pursue these interests through industry work.

Sophia Houston

Sophia is a Master’s student who joined the Lab in Spring 2023 as an undergraduate. She graduated from Georgia Tech in August 2024 with a B.S. in Psychology. Sophia is passionate about enhancing worker well-being and advancing workforce development. She aims to support professional and career growth by promoting continuous learning and positive organizational change. With a focus on labor reform, she plans to work in both public and private sectors to create environments that foster development and long-term success for workers and public servants.

Undergraduate Students

Danielle Amrani

Danielle Amrani is a Psychology major at Georgia Tech and joined the Foundations Lab in the Spring of 2023. She is passionate about cognitive psychology, specifically in relation to athletes. As a result, she aspires to pursue a career in the Sports Medicine field. After graduation, she plans on attending medical school.

Kinsley  Barrett

Kinsley Barrett is a 3rd-year psychology major, interested in research regarding employee well-being, work-life balance, and improvement of organizational infrastructure. After graduation, she intends to earn an MS in I/O Psychology and a PMP, to continue becoming a well-rounded asset to the field. Eventually, she hopes to work as a People Operations Manager and transform work culture into a more accessible, fulfilling, and equitable space.

Anish Cheekati

Anish Cheekati is a Psychology major at Georgia Tech and joined the lab in Fall 2021. His interests include research in clinical psychology, primarily mental health, as well as worker well-being and work-life balance. After graduation, he plans on going to medical school and later specializing in the field of plastic surgery.

Alyssa Davenport

Alyssa Davenport is a Psychology major with a minor in Public Policy at Georgia Tech and joined the Foundation Lab in Fall 2021. She is very interested in employee satisfaction and motivation. Her research interests include topics like worker stress and wellbeing, job attitudes, and work-family relationships. After graduation, she plans on pursuing her PhD in I/O Psychology. 

Allison Doyle

Allison Doyle is a second-year biology major with a psychology minor from West Hartford, CT. She joined the Foundation Lab in the spring of 2023. Her interests are in workplace well-being, mental health, and Alzheimer’s disease. After graduation, she plans to attend graduate school for genetic counseling and enter the healthcare workforce. 

Claudia Gomez

Claudia is a fourth-year Biology major from Grayson, Georgia. She started in the lab at the end of the Spring 2023 semester, and she is passionate about work-family conflict, specifically the mental and physical health issues related to this subtopic of IO psychology. She aspires to get a Masters in Public Health after graduating, and afterward, she hopes to go to medical school to become a pediatrician. 

Nat Jain

Nat Jain is a psychology major at Georgia Tech who joined the Foundations Lab in Fall 2023. Their research interests are in the effects of different stressors on mental health and job performance. After college, they plan to go to medical school and eventually become a Clinical Psychiatrist to work with individuals on improving their mental health through a combination of medication and therapy.

Grace Johnson

Grace Johnson is a Psychology major with a concentration in Business at Georgia Tech. She joined The Foundation Lab in August 2022. She is interested in researching work environments and how they affect family dynamics. She is working to become an Industrial Psychologist and help reform work environments in the corporate world.

Erin So Kim

Erin is a Neuroscience Major with an interest in Pre-med at Georgia Tech. Her research interests include getting a better understanding of how the mind works so that we can control the mind better to help our bodies. After graduating, she plans to obtain a Ph.D. in Neuroscience after pursuing an MD in the field of neurosurgery.

Adeba Mukul 

Adeba Mukul is a Psychology major at Georgia Tech and joined the Foundation Lab in Spring 2023. Her research interests are in DEI interventions, specifically refugee and immigrant integration. After graduation, she plans to continue her education by attending graduate school for I/O psychology. 

Metztli Munoz

Metztli Munoz is a third-year psychology major. She has a passion for research and hopes to one day specialize in therapy. She is broadly interested in Discrimination, DEI, and stress in the workplace. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors and exploring the city.

Kendal Newton

Kendal Newton is a Psychology major and Biology minor at Georgia Tech. She joined the Foundation Lab in Spring 2023. Her interests include anxiety and stress and their effects on the body. After graduation, she plans to work towards a Ph.D.; currently, she is considering forensic psychology or clinical psychology. 

Jena Patel

Jena Patel is a Psychology major with a minor in Health and Medical Sciences and Public Policy at Georgia Tech. She joined the Foundation Lab in the Spring of 2023. Her research interests lie in the healthcare setting, and she is excited to study how to improve teamwork and well-being in the medical field. Upon graduation, she plans on going to PA school to pursue a career in Pediatrics. 

Ana Peralta Rolka

Ana is a Psychology major with a minor in Spanish at Georgia Tech. She joined The Foundation Lab in August of 2022. Her primary research interests consist of Alzheimer’s, and how things in our daily life influences our mental health. After graduation, she plans to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology, and a career as either a Clinical or Sport Psychologist.

Matthys Serfontein

Matthys (Matt) Serfontein is a high school junior at Innovation Academy who joined The Foundation Lab in Spring 2023. He is interested in researching how the organization of teams affects team output and team member stress levels. Following graduation, he plans to pursue a degree in I/O psychology to work in industry or become a corporate lawyer. 

Emily Sheffield

Emily Sheffield is a Psychology major at Georgia Tech and joined The Foundation Lab in Spring 2022. She is very interested in researching worker well-being and the effects of work-life balance and work motivation on performance. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in I/O psychology and further the field through her work.

Elizabeth Skibiel

Elizabeth Skibiel is a 4th year psychology major at Georgia Tech minoring in the science of Mental Health and Well-being with a concentration in business. She joined the foundation Lab in Spring 2024. In spring 2024, Elizabeth was a part of the steadfast project, and she joined the AFRL project in summer 2024. Her interests include industrial organizational psychology and data analytics. After graduating, she hopes to pursue her either a master’s in I/O psychology or a masters/certificate in data analytics. 

High School Students

Mridula Bharathi

Mridula Bharathi is a senior at Alpharetta High School and joined The Foundation Lab in Fall 2023. She is interested in researching neural reorganization after stroke and how to improve worker well-being in medical teams and such high-stakes teams. After graduation, she plans to pursue a degree in Neuroscience.

Jin Han

Jin Han joined the lab in the Summer of 2022. She is currently a junior at Innovation Academy. Her interest in I/O psychology stems from exploring the complex mechanisms through which the human mind perceives, interprets, and coherently expresses a wide range of emotions. Following graduation, she plans to pursue a degree in neuropsychology, working to understand the intricate connections between the brain and behavior, and contributing to advancements in the field of neuroscience and psychology.
